Welcome to LivingWell

We are thrilled to announce our new newsletter, LivingWell.  Our goal with LivingWell is to provide you not only with news about our practice, but with information you can use to keep your family healthy and vibrant all year long.  As you know, Pediatric Associates of Jacksonville is the only true Integartive Medical Practice In Jacksonville.  What that means is that we take a complete view of your family’s medical needs — we don’t just treat symptoms; we treat causes.  We tie together the best of traditional medicine with the best of new approaches — chiropractic, nutrition, technology, guided imagery, brain training, etc.  We do not limit our knowledge to what we learn in medical school.  Instead, we continually train in every facet of medicine so you can be sure we are taking the most complete approach to solving your family’s puzzle.  Some treatments are easy and some treatments take a number of approaches to get it right.  What we do promise is we will work with every tool we have at our disposal to make sure your child — your whole family – is taken care of lovingly, expertly, efficiently and successfully.  Click here to read more about Integrative Medicine.

Thank you for reading LivingWell.  Please feel free to pass it on to your friends.  Join us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date in between issues too.  If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to call on us!

How Cervical Cervical Chiropractic Can Change Your Life

Welcome Dr. Carissa McKee

We’re very excited to announce a new addition to our team, Dr. Carissa McKee. Dr. McKee attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL and received her Bachelors degree in Psychology from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Her focus is in Upper Cervical, orthogonal based spinal care utilizing a painless noninvasive vibration instrument. Integrative Medicine

We think of it as changing the world.
You can think of it simply as better care.

Integrative Medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.

The Principles of Integrative Medicine:
– A partnership between patient and practitioner in the healing

  process
– Appropriate use of conventional and alternative methods to

facilitate the body’s innate healing response
– Consideration of all factors that influence health, wellness and

disease, including mind, spirit and community as well as body
– A philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor

   accepts alternative therapies uncritically
– Recognition that good medicine should be based in good science, be inquiry driven, and be open to new paradigms
– Use of natural, effective, less-invasive interventions whenever possible
– Use of the broader concepts of promotion of health and the prevention of illness as well as the treatment of disease
– Training of practitioners to be models of health and healing, committed to the process of self-exploration and

   self-development

Combat those Spring Allergies

It really is like going to war!

While most of the country is still suffering cold weather and scraping snow off their windshields, for those of us in North Florida our weather is finally starting to turn.  And instead of our cars being covered in snow, it seems they are covered in yellow pollen – a sure sign that spring, and spring allergies are upon us.  Spring is the time of year that we normally think of when it comes to seasonal allergies. As the trees start to bloom and the pollen gets airborne, allergy sufferers begin their annual ritual of sniffling and sneezing. Each year, 35 million Americans fall prey to seasonal allergic rhinitis, more commonly known as hay fever.  To read a story about spring allergies on Webmed.com, click here.

Although there is no magical cure for spring allergies, there are a number of ways to combat them, from medication to household habits. The first thing to do is come in for an appointment.  Let us make sure there are no other symptoms or infections, and we can steer you in the right direction for either Over The Counter (OTC) medications like antihystimines (Allegra, Claritan, Zyrtec) and decongestants like Sudafed.  There are also some wonderful sprays that have recently come on the market such as Nasacort OTC, which used to be only available from your pharmacist.  Give us a call to discuss your spring allergies.  We can help!
